This 2 CE hour course is designed to meet the Florida Administrative Code's Rule 64B9-5.011 regarding continuing education on prevention of medical errors for Nurses in the state of Florida and includes the following subjects:
(1) Factors that impact the occurrence of medical errors;
(2) Recognizing error-prone situations;
(3) Processes to improve patient outcomes;
(4) Responsibilities for reporting;
(5) Safety needs of special populations;
(6) Public education.
It also meets the following continuing education requirements set by the Florida Board of Massage Chapter 64B7-28 Biennial License Renewal rule: 64B7-28.009 Continuing Education (a) two classroom hours of instruction on prevention of medical errors that meet the requirements of Section 456.013(7), F.S. The topics covered include a study of root-cause analysis, error reduction and prevention, and patient safety. Common contraindications for massage therapy will also be provided as well as definitions for important course key terms. A multiple-choice evaluation will also be given to students completing this course online or via distance study to ensure that the students have mastered the learning outcomes for this class.
SPECIAL NOTE: This course is ONLY approved by the Florida Board of Massage Therapy, the Florida Board of Nursing, the Florida Council of Dietetics and Nutrition, the Florida Council of Licensed Midwifery, the Florida Electrolysis Council, and the Florida Board of Clinical Laboratory Personnel (Provider #50-16714) but no other state or national regulatory boards.
