Florida Massage Therapy Laws & Rules – 2 & 4 CE Hours
This course is designed to provide massage therapists with detailed information regarding the two main areas of laws that govern their profession in the state of Florida: the Florida Massage Therapy Practice Act: Chapter 480 of the Florida Statutes and Chapter 64B27 of the Administrative Code. Although there are other chapters of Florida legislature that do pertain to the practice of massage therapy, these two provide the bulk of rules that apply personally to massage therapists. This course was updated in 2016 based on the current Florida massage therapy laws that had been amended or repealed at that time. The reference section lists the website address where these laws were retrieved so that therapists may view any recent updates not available prior to this course publishing.
In addition, please note that when a Florida Massage Therapy law or rule has been “repealed”, that means that it is no longer in effect. Although some continuing education providers omit these outdated laws from their curriculum, we feel it is important to include them with the date of their repeal so that massage therapists can see which laws have changed over time. This is particularly useful for therapists because it not only provides the new laws but also makes them aware of antiquated ones as well.
